I remember after having each of my babies, I could not get myself together to do a newborn shoot with the entire family involved. It was honestly daunting. Being freshly post-partum, I was having baby blues like crazy! I got some photos done of just the babies, and called it a day. I look back and regret it all the time. Something I didn’t think about was having a family photoshoot WITH the newborn. I like to call it a newborn family photo session. A lot of photographer’s will only do newborn sessions up until the baby is 14 days old. With a family newborn session, it can be at any time! Not convinced yet? Let me give you 3 reasons to have a family newborn session.
Just because it is beyond the 14 day time period for a standard newborn session, doesn’t mean the newborn phase has passed. There is still so much newborn bliss going on, siblings are super excited still about their newest brother or sister, and emotions are still running high for both mom and dad. The tiniest details of baby’s ears, toes, and facial expressions are still there. It is the perfect time to have a family newborn session!
Piggy-backing off of number one- whether it is your first, last, or somewhere in between, it is such an exciting time to document. As a Jacksonville Newborn, Family, and Maternity Photographer, my style in all of my sessions is to focus on the connection you have as a whole family. Documenting those moments of brother or sister giving their baby a kiss, or even the family dog still scoping out the new member. The emotions during this time create the perfect atmosphere to document and have as keepsakes to look back on forever.
Let’s be honest, after we have a new baby (especially with older siblings) we start itching to have those updated family photos done! I have clients that always tell me that they are so thankful they chose to have their session done at this time, and gave family and newborn photos at the same time.
If you’re in the Jacksonville, Fl or surrounding areas, and are interested in a family photoshoot with newborn, I’d love to chat more about how we can make that vision come to life!
