POV you just found out you’re pregnant, and you’re wondering when to book maternity photos. That is a very common question! There is a general timeframe that as your Jacksonville Maternity Photographer- I would recommend, but also is a pretty standard timeframe across the board in the photography world. That timeframe is between 28-34 weeks. Why? Well here are a few reasons! If you’re interested in learning about the best time to book a pregnancy announcement session, check here
Around the 28-34 week mark, your belly starts to get more prominent and defined. This allows for your bump to stand out beautifully in photos! Before this period, your bump may not be showing as much, and after 34 weeks, you may feel to uncomfortable!
As your third trimester comes around, you’ve still got enough energy to move around naturally without getting too tired, especially if you’re doing a family maternity session with other little ones that will be involved. So you’ll be comfortable enough to still enjoy your time and create memories. As your due date approaches, the swelling, fatigue, and discomfort really start to kick in, which can make it challenging to really enjoy. You want to still enjoy your session!
Knowing in your mind that 28-34 weeks is the optimal timeframe to book maternity photos, you can plan ahead and book your session far enough in advance to have everything like outfits, locations, and special details planned out. Pregnancy brain is real, and it’s so easy to brush it off until the last minute. Planning and booking early ensures you have a spot on the calendar, for the right time. Also, waiting too long could mean missing out on the session if baby decides to surprise you and come early!
As our Jacksonville Maternity Photographer, while I do not necessarily require this to be the timeframe you book your maternity photos, I know there are some photographers who will not do a maternity session after 34 weeks just due to liability, and the chances of mama going into labor, or feeling ill from being out in the heat etc. I definitely strongly encourage not going beyond 34 weeks!
If you’re in Jacksonville, Fl, and looking to book a maternity session- now is the time! Don’t wait until it is too late. Maternity sessions fill up fast due to mamas booking early in advance, and I hate to turn anyone away! I recommend booking your maternity session once you enter into the second trimester.
